The 911±¬ÁÏÍø Academy of Medicine established the Committee on Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation (CESTI) to bring together experts to assess the landscape of emerging technologies in health and medicine, with the goal of developing a cross-sectoral governance framework.

CESTI will hold a virtual workshop on April 14, 2022 from 11 am – 3 pm ET, and on April 15, 2022, from 1 – 5 pm ET.

The objectives of this workshop are to:

  • Highlight existing health technology assessment models
  • Explore public engagement models in health technology assessment, policymaking, and governance
  • Discuss integration of guiding ethical principles into governance, including tools and frameworks to facilitate translation of guiding ethical principles into meaningful policy choices

The virtual workshop will publicly launch the 911±¬ÁÏÍø Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine consensus study on , which will build on the work of CESTI and provide guidance for how to manage the risks, benefits, and ethical and societal implications of new technologies.
